Rinnai Hot Water Temperature Controller

Troubleshooting Rinnai Hot Water Temperature Controller

The hot water temperature controller is a handy and convenient feature which allows you to pre-set your desired hot water temperature within different areas of your home. This eliminates the need to constantly fiddle with your hot and cold taps to reach your preferred water temperature and keep it consistent.

Another feature of the Rinnai hot water temperature controllers is that they provide a handy self-diagnostic tool should there be a fault with your Rinnai tankless hot water heater. A Rinnai error code will flash on the controller’s digital monitor, allowing for prompt troubleshooting.

If you have a Rinnai continuous flow hot water heater that does not have a water temperature controller installed there are still steps you can take to try and troubleshoot any faults with the unit – even without a temperature controller showing precisely what the issue is.

Rinnai Hot Water Heater Troubleshooting

If you suddenly experience no hot water with your Rinnai continuous flow hot water system but don’t have a water temperature controller installed, there are some steps that you can try prior to calling in a technician:

Rinnai Water Heater Won’t Start

Check that the power is on at the hot water system. If so, then check that the isolation valves for the unit are open.

Your Rinnai Hot Water Heater Starts and then Shuts Down

Check that the power to the unit didn’t cut out after operation.  Inspect the gas isolation valves to ensure that they are fully open at the unit and at the gas meter. Completely open your hot water tap.

The Rinnai Hot Water Heater Starts and then Water Turns Cold

Check that the unit’s power is still on. Open your hot water tap to a greater capacity.
