So, how do you know if there’s a gas leak?
If you can smell gas, or if your last gas bill was more expensive than it should have been, you could have a gas leak. While these are pretty good indicators, we’ll need to be absolutely certain, so your attending Jim’s Plumbing gasfitter will use a device called a manometer; by measuring the pressure throughout your gas network, the manometer detects a gas leak by taking note of any discrepancies between one section of the gas network and other.
If there is definitely a leak, your attending gas fitting expert from Jim’s Plumbing will then need to identify the precise location and cause of it. We’ll do this by separating every section or piping, connection and appliance, one at a time, using the manometer again to check every individual piece. After that, it’s just a matter of finding the specific broken connection or faulty fitting. Your attending gasfitter will retest once he’s completed all work, too, so both you and him will know the gas leak has been totally taken care of.
Gas Appliance Installation
Whether your gas appliance is run by LPG or Natural gas we are able to install and commission any gas installations. This includes:
Gas Hot Water Heaters
Gas Hot Plates or Cooktops
So, how will you fix to my leaking pipes and appliances?
That depends on what the specific leaking fixture or fitting is and why it’s leaking. A gas leak in the gas pipe work can be due to a burst gas pipe, which means that just that segment will need to be repaired or replaced, or a faulty gas connection, which again means that just that piece will need to be fixed or changed. If the damage or faults are serious enough, it may be a better idea to redo your entire gas network, which your attending Jim’s Plumbing gasfitter can give you a quote for. Our gas fitting experts can work with a range of gas piping materials, depending on whether your lines are galvanised, PEX or copper, and we can install an entirely new system in any one you want.
In order to prevent a gas leak from a gas appliance, we’ll either need to repair or replace the offending unit. With our experience, equipment and stock of spare parts, a Jim’s Plumbing gas fitting professional will able to repair any gas appliance that may be leaking, no matter what type, brand or model it may might. However, if the problem is serious enough, it may be more cost effective to simply buy a new gas appliance, then organise for one of our expert gasfitters to come back and install and commission it for you.
